Alexandra Gonzales is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer based in Houston, Texas, whose practice explores the relationship between materials, transformation, and artistic expression. Working across sculpture, photography, ceramics, painting, and digital art, she incorporates materials such as wood, foam, and discarded objects to create work that challenges traditional boundaries between art, material, and everyday life.
Gonzales’ artistic process is rooted in experimentation and an interest in the possibilities of unconventional materials. By combining found objects with traditional and contemporary techniques, she explores how materials can be reimagined, reshaped, and given new meaning. Her work reflects an ongoing investigation of form, texture, and the potential for creative expression through the transformation of ordinary materials.
She earned an associate degree in Studio Arts from Houston City College and is currently completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in sculpture at the University of Houston. Her exhibition experience includes A Liminal Passage, A Lingering Touch, her senior exhibition presented from May 2 through May 11, 2025, and The Happening at The Orange Show on October 25, 2024. In the summer of 2024, Gonzales completed an internship at The Orange Show, gaining experience within Houston’s arts and cultural community.
In addition to her studio practice, Gonzales owns and operates a photography business, extending her artistic vision into professional photography. Across her creative endeavors, she continues to explore the possibilities of diverse materials and mediums, embracing experimentation as a means of developing new perspectives and forms of visual expression.
